Backup Thunderbird Email

1. Get rid of excess files to reduce the size of your backup by compacting your mail.
2. Exit Thunderbird.
3. Find the "Thunderbird" folder in the profile folder path that contains the profiles.ini file and the "Profiles" folder (Windows and Mac) or folder (Linux), eg. C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Thunderbird\
4. Copy the "Thunderbird" folder to the backup location or disk.

Restoring a Thunderbird Backup:

1. Follow the procedure above to get to the Profile folder
2. Make sure Thunderbird is closed.
3. Copy your backup files from your disk into the Profile folder, overwriting anything that may be there.
